Mountains, mountains, mountains, including the mountain wines of the Haute-Savoie. Stage 11 Albertville – La Rosière Espace San Bernardo 7/18/18 108.5 km and Geraint Thomas of Team Sky takes the win and the yellow jersey!
We are still in the region of the Haute-Savoie and this stage ends in the town of La Rosnière. Conveniently, La Rosnière is holding a wine and food festival, 7/22-7/24. So if you find yourself in the middle of the French Alps, having watched the Tour, time to wine and dine. Andrew Jefford wrote about the wines of the Savoie in Decanter earlier this year. The writer and Jura/Savoie wine expert Wink Lorch has a kickstarter created so she can complete a book on the wines of the Savoie. Wine Folly an incredible resource for wine people of all levels has a great write-up, intro on the wines of the Savoie.
So rather than focus directly on wines today, I recognize one of my favorite cheeses in the universe, reblochon that goes very well with Savoie wine. This region is known for its cheese, Beaufort, Tommes de Savoie and Reblochon among others.

Salut to French cheese and these awe-inspiring mountain stages in the Savoie of the TDF2018!
