Still within the Fiefs Vendéens wine region of the Pays Nantais, western most sub-region of the Loire Valley, considered the Lower Loire.

So Stage 2, lots of drama and crashes yet again. Sagan wins the stage!

So this stage stays within the Vendées region, so I chose a wine from Fiefs Vendéens, Mareuil. As I said for Stage 1 there are 5 villages included within this appellation, Brem, Chantonnay, Mareuil, Pissotte and Vix. For this stage I found a wine that Chris Kissack, the WineDoctor wrote about, Jérémie Mourat Fiefs Vendéens Mareuil Blanc Clos Saint-André 2012. 90% Chenin Blanc 10% Chardonnay
Located on the far southwest of the Loire Valley, tempered by a gentle sea breeze, the A.O.C. Fiefs Vendéens stand out for their originality. Here you will not find any slate-roofed houses or cellars carved in the local stonework. The Vendée already faces south – and it’s here you will find the Vignobles Mourat nestled in the foothills of the Massif Armoricain.
Here is the tech sheet for the Clos Saint Andre

This stage took place on the roads further inland but in this area no matter where you are, you are still close to the sea. Nothing is better for me than beautiful white wines and shellfish. On to the Team Time Trials – Stage 3!
